How this index is measured

  • What we measureThe carrier’s own first promise against what happened to the box. For every shipment TrackingMCP tracks we keep the first ETA the carrier published for it, then compare that to the discharge we recorded at the destination port. "On time" = discharged within 24 hours of that first ETA; arriving early counts as on time.
  • Where the data comes fromOur own tracking of real customer shipments, cross-checked against live AIS vessel positions. One shipment tracked to discharge is one observation — no carrier self-reporting, no surveys. We deliberately do not score the carrier’s LAST ETA: carriers revise it as a voyage slips, so by arrival it has caught up with reality and almost everything scores on time.
  • Honesty gatesA lane needs 6+ shipments before it counts, and a carrier appears only with 50+ observations across its lanes. Figures are observation-weighted, so one busy lane doesn’t masquerade as a global norm — but coverage still reflects the lanes we track, not every service a carrier runs.
  • FreshnessTrailing-12-month window, rebuilt daily. A lane whose last measurement is over 45 days old is dropped rather than republished: if a feed goes quiet the carrier leaves the table instead of freezing at its final number. The "computed" date below the table is the latest underlying measurement.
